Pictures of Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro is certainly a beautiful and interesting city. Hang out at the beach, go shopping, run around the lake, take the cable car up the Sugarloaf, or go to a Bossa Nova concert in Ipanema. Whatever it is, you will certainly have a great time. Some tourists even come here only to spend their entire vacation in Copacabana at the beach. I liked Rio, too. My enthusiasm was, however, a little dampened by the constant warnings that Rio is dangerous, that poor and desparate people mix with rich people, that violence is not just confined to the Favelas. In retrospect, I’d say, though, that it’s not that bad. Dress down, leave your camera and map at home, and chances are, you won’t have any problems. My tip: try some of that delicious Carioca food.
