Ayuthaya - Temples and Ruins of Temples

2004/5/6 - 14:07

We decided not to stay in Aythaya for too long. The city itself is only interesting for its ancient ruins and statues. The rest is basically again a mix of loud traffic, polluted air, and dogs. In my opinion, that part is a little more annoying than Bangkok.

Last night, we went on a night trip to the ruins and hit some interesting spots (such as a Burmese pyramid during sunset) as well as some very touristy sites where the ruins weren’t accessible but illuminated. We went there again this morning to check them out during daylight. A good choice, since one can explore the ruins instead of just seeing them from the outside. However, the weather was hardly bearable. It had rained this morning so the humidity and the heat made you want to take a shower every five minutes.

We’re on the train now and we will try to head down to the South.
