Ampefy (2019)

Most tourists will go to the area of Ampefy to see the geysirs and the Lily waterfalls. And we sure did. But the entire area has a very interesting look, with lots of mountains and former volcanoes. You will notice immediately when you exit Antananarivo westbound that the landscape looks very different from the Eastern side of Antananarivo. It’s quite beautiful and surely worth putting on your itinerary.

Geysirs

Lots of Malagasy tourists come here to take a bath (and pictures) in front of the geysirs. Recently, they have added a few swimming pools for the kids.

Lily Waterfalls and Around

The waterfalls were much larger than I had expected. You don’t see this in the pictures but there were lots of Malagasy tourists here, too. Because we arrived quite late, we experienced the sunset on our way back to the main street. This gave us the opportunity to take some great pictures.

At sunset, the mountain tops painted these beautiful shadow stripes into the sky

Ampefy and Around

I wasn’t sure if I should photograph them but when I took out my camera, they all started laughing.

I saw these very often on cars. I’m not sure why they use the Apple logo everywhere.
