Foulpointe (2019)

Foulpointe is a popular destination for Malagasy tourists. It is located to the North of Tamatave. Once you enter the beach, you will be immediately surrounded by people wanting to sell you stuff. But once they realize you don’t want to buy anything, they will leave you alone.

You can swim in the sea here as it is very shallow and thus has no big waves.

Manda Beach Hotel

We stayed at the Manda Beach Hotel which was quite nice. The one odd thing was that their restaurant permanently played a CD of Christmas songs performed by American country singers (in the month of May).

The Azura Golf Resort

On one of our trips around the village, we dropped by the Azura Golf Resort. It is known to be one of the most expensive and luxurious hotels, at least to Malagasy standards. Locals say it is merely used to launder money. This was amplified by the fact that we didn’t see any guests while we were there. We briefly contemplated staying there for a night, just for the experience (a room for us all would have been 200 EUR per night). But it didn’t fit the schedule so we only took a small tour of the place.
